Hyundai just slotted a new variant into the Venue lineup. It’s called the HX5+ and it starts at Rs. 9.99 lakh ex-showroom. The timing makes sense. The new generation Venue that launched in November already pulled in over 50,000 bookings, so Hyundai’s trying to keep that momentum going by filling a gap in the range.
The HX5+ sits between the mid-level and top trims. It runs the 1.2-litre petrol engine with a manual gearbox, which is the same Kappa unit you’ll find across most of the Venue lineup. Nothing surprising there. What matters is what you’re getting for the price.
What’s New in the HX5+
Roof rails show up for the first time at this price point. Quad-beam LED headlamps too, which should help visibility at night. You also get a rear wiper and washer, something that’s genuinely useful during monsoon months or dusty highway runs.
Inside, there’s a wireless charger. No more fumbling with cables every time you get in. The driver gets an armrest with storage, and rear passengers get a sunshade for the back window. The driver’s power window now has auto up and down with anti-pinch, a small but appreciated touch.
Hyundai also updated the HX4 variant with driver seat height adjustment. That’s a running change, not tied to the HX5+ launch, but it shows they’re tweaking things based on feedback.

Where This Fits
The Venue range runs from HX2 all the way to HX10. The HX5+ lands right in the middle, and that’s deliberate. It brings features like LED headlamps and wireless charging down to a price point where more buyers can actually afford them. In a segment where every rupee matters, that positioning could work.
The new generation Venue itself brought bigger changes. Dual 12.3-inch curved displays, Level 2 ADAS, and a reworked exterior. But those premium features are still locked to higher trims. The HX5+ doesn’t get them. What it does is make the everyday practical stuff more accessible without asking you to jump to the top variants.

The 1.2-litre petrol isn’t the most powerful engine in the segment. It makes around 83 PS, which is adequate for city driving but not thrilling. If you want more punch, you’ll need to look at the turbo petrol or diesel options, but those cost more.

Is It Worth Booking?
If you’re shopping in the Rs. 10 lakh range and want a compact SUV with decent features, the HX5+ makes sense. You’re not getting ADAS or the big screens, but you are getting practical upgrades that matter day to day. The wireless charger alone is something you’ll use constantly. Roof rails add some visual appeal, and the LED headlamps are a real functional upgrade over halogens.
The catch? The 1.2-litre manual might feel underwhelming if you’re used to turbocharged engines or automatics. And if you can stretch your budget, the higher trims with ADAS and bigger screens might be worth considering depending on what you value.
Hyundai’s betting that 50,000 bookings means there’s room for another variant. The HX5+ fills a specific gap, offering more than the base trims without the full premium of the top models. For buyers who want a balanced package without overspending, that could be exactly what they need.
