Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for a major product push over the next few years, and it’s not just about refreshing old nameplates. The country’s largest carmaker is doubling down on affordable mobility with a fresh lineup that spans hatchbacks, compact SUVs, MPVs, and electric vehicles. If you’ve been waiting for Maruti to get serious about electrification and efficiency without abandoning its budget-friendly roots, this might be worth paying attention to.

A New Entry-Level Model Is Coming

At the very bottom of the range, Maruti is reportedly developing a brand-new affordable car aimed squarely at first-time buyers. Details are scarce, but the focus is clearly on keeping running costs low and ownership hassle-free.
Rivals like Tata and Hyundai have been chipping away at Maruti’s dominance in the entry segment, and this new model could be the company’s way of reminding everyone why it owns this space.

An Affordable Electric Is Finally Happening
Maruti’s electric story has been slow to unfold, but that’s about to change. A compact EV based on the eWX concept is widely expected to become the brand’s cheapest electric offering. It’ll lean heavily on a boxy, space-efficient design.
If Maruti can pull this off without compromising too much on range or usability, it could open up a whole new audience for electric vehicles in India. That’s a big if, though. Affordability and capability don’t always play nice together in the EV world.

A Micro SUV to Challenge Punch and Exter

Below the Brezza, Maruti is cooking up a five-seat micro SUV that’ll go head-to-head with the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Expect muscular styling cues and, again, some form of hybrid tech to help with fuel economy. This segment has exploded over the past couple of years, and Maruti’s been watching from the sidelines. That’s unusual for a company that rarely lets a hot segment go untapped.
Look, the Punch has been selling like crazy because it nails the formula: SUV looks, hatchback pricing, decent practicality. Maruti knows this. Whatever they launch here needs to match or beat that value equation. Hybrid assistance could be the differentiator if it translates into genuinely better mileage without a big price penalty.

A Compact MPV Might Join the Lineup
There’s also talk of a smaller MPV slotting in below the Ertiga. Inspiration is apparently coming from tall, space-maximizing people-movers sold in other markets. Interior flexibility and practicality will be the main draws, backed by a strong hybrid petrol engine for better efficiency. This one makes sense if you think about families who need space but don’t want to stretch their budget or deal with the bulk of a full-size MPV.
Maruti’s MPV game has always been strong. The Ertiga has dominated its segment for years. A smaller, cheaper sibling could do the same thing one rung lower.

Next-Gen Baleno and Updated Fronx

The Baleno is due for a full redesign around 2027. Expect a new look, more premium interiors, and a strong hybrid system built around Maruti’s new Z-series petrol engine, possibly in a range-extender setup. That could mean electric-only running for short trips with the engine kicking in to charge the battery or assist when needed. If executed well, it’d be a smart middle ground between full hybrids and conventional engines.
Meanwhile, the Fronx is getting more than just a facelift. Updates are expected to include meaningful mechanical upgrades and advanced driver assistance features, possibly arriving sometime next year. The Fronx hasn’t set sales charts on fire, so giving it more substance could help it stand out in an increasingly crowded compact crossover segment.
What It All Means
Maruti Suzuki is clearly betting that the future of budget cars isn’t just about keeping prices low. Hybrids and EVs filtering down to affordable segments could reshape expectations across the board.
If you’re in the market for a small car or compact SUV in the next couple of years, this lineup shift is worth keeping on your radar. The e Vitara is launching soon, and there’s even a midsize electric MPV reportedly under development.
